Excellent food and reasonable prices. Usually you are seated right away with great chips, salsa and pico. Great place for bringing young children for the staff is very accomodating.

On this occation we waited for quite awhile and then when they brought me my steak it was extremely tough and had a lot of gristle, it was incredibly hard to chew. I realize I should have spoken to them at the time but since i had waited so long I didn't want to have to wait longer.

Good hole in the wall kinda feel. No sports games going or bar though (good for actual convo). Good place for a couple or small group. The chips and salsa are good, light and crispy and good flavor without being too hot.

This place has some really good food, Fast service, and good customer service. We'll definitely be coming back to this place in the future

This was my first time here. I loved the food. The portions were of good size, hot to the table, and very tasty. I loved the Spanish rice, and thought it was above average since normally it's my least favorite (out of a can or bag). The personnel were very polite, but it was very slow and they were hard to acquire if needed. Other than that, I found it wonderful. There is always room for improvement and always more reasons to receive a 5 star rating.

This was the best Mexican I had had in a while. I ordered camarones a la diabla and it was the best I had ever had.In general, I was impressed with the preparation of the vegetables on every dish, which can be lacking in some Mexican restaurants.

I have been 2 el portal before and their service and food was slipping in quality and the service and presentation of food was becoming poor. That being said..i went yesterday and things were better. The food needed a little more salt and the guacamole smaller bits of veggies but the service was good and the food was fresher. Not day or 2 old stuff. Rice could have been cooked a bit more but overall better. Would go there again. Seems like they r stepping up and doing better.

My sweetheart too me too dinner after a trying day and it was just what the doctor ordered, good margaritas, carne asada, taco enchiladas combo, rice and beans came with it was very delicious and comforting

Authentic, decently priced and great customer service

Super fast service for seating, chips and salsa, water, drinks, food. I enjoyed a massive taco salad with shredded chicken and it was less than $10 (without gratuity). Very good value. Highly recommended.

I had been there mulitiple times when they first opened and loved it. Unfortunately my recent dining experience was awful. Horrible service, made us wait for a table while seating others in front of us. (There were plenty of tables open) Got our orders wrong and then argued that we said something else. Treated with such disrespect.

Not sure what the food is like but the staff are super friendly and the drinks are cold. I usually hang out inside while the ladies are out shopping or getting their nails done.

i normally like the food here. Today, not good!!! we ordered 5 meals. 2 were completely wrong. the seafood plate was hard pressed for seafood. the salsa was similar to tomato paste. very disappointed.

They use lard in their cooking, making a lot of thier menu not vegetarian friendly. If you do order vegetarian the food is bland, and prefrozen assorted vegetable mix is thrown into food. Have never tried a meat dish. Have heard other other liked it.

A good source for local Mexican cuisine, El Portal’s convenient location in the Omache Shopping Center makes it easily accessible if you want to grab lunch or dinner without driving downtown to one of the other Mexican restaurants. The food is usually good and served quickly. The staff is friendly and attentive and their prices are reasonable.
